Maoneke calls for integrated government systems to improve service delivery

VICTORIA FALLS - Chairperson of the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Defence, Home Affairs, Security Services and War Veterans Affairs, Exevia Moses Maoneke, has urged Government to accelerate the integration of digital systems across ministries and departments to enhance public service delivery, improve efficiency and reduce operational costs.

Maoneke, who is also the Member of Parliament for Chivi Central, made the call on the sidelines of the African Registrars General Conference currently underway in Victoria Falls.

He said Government institutions should adopt interoperable digital platforms that allow seamless sharing of information, enabling citizens to access services more efficiently.

According to Maoneke, critical public services such as the issuance of birth and death certificates, passports and banking‑related processes should be interconnected to eliminate duplication, shorten processing times and improve convenience for the public.

He said Zimbabwe should embrace a whole‑of‑government approach in which ministries, departments and agencies operate through integrated digital systems, adding that continued computerisation and digitalisation of Government offices are key to modernising public administration.

Maoneke said integrated systems would not only improve service delivery but also reduce administrative costs and strengthen coordination among Government institutions.

The African Registrars General Conference has brought together registrars general, policymakers and civil registration experts from across Africa to exchange ideas on innovations, best practices and strategies aimed at strengthening civil registration and identity management systems across the continent, in line with broader goals of digital governance integration and public service delivery reform.
