A MAN who spent 20 days in hospital after his wife scalded him with boiling water dragged the woman to court seeking her eviction from their matrimonial home.
Elijah Chaputika of How Mine yesterday told Bulawayo magistrate Evelyn Mashavakure that his wife, Fransisca Mauye, was violent.
He said Mauye verbally and physically abused him.
"Your worship, when I was discharged from the hospital after she attacked me with boiling water, I didn't go back to my house because l'm afraid she will start beating me up again," said Chaputika.
"I'm appealing to the court to evict her from my premises so I can go back home. I've had enough of her constant bickering and assaults."
Mauye said she never chased him out of the house and admitted she poured boiling water on him.
"Your worship, Chaputika has been sending his relatives to our home telling me to move out of the house. It is our matrimonial home I've nowhere else to go," she said.
She did not disclose to the court why she scalded her husband.
Magistrate Mashavakure declined to grant the eviction order but granted Chaputika a protection order.
She ordered Mauye not to physically and verbally abuse him.
She advised the couple to maintain peace in their matrimonial home.
