Man seriously assaulted for complaining over stolen SIM card and battery

A man from Nkankezi in Filabusi was seriously assaulted after he complained that his cellphone SIM card and battery were missing after he left the mobile phone to charge at a shop where the accused person works.
This was heard by Filabusi resident magistrate Mzingaye Moyo when Gift Mlawuzi appeared before him charged with assault.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge and was remanded to October 14 for trial.
The prosecutor Smart Tafireyi told the court that on October 6 this year at 9pm the complainant Caleb Masendeke (28) was at Khayanyama business centre in Filabusi where he asked for his mobile phone to be charged at the shop where Mlawuzi works.
After sometime when he wanted to collect the phone he discovered that the battery and SIM card were missing.
When he asked Mlawuzi to give him his items Mlawuzi became angry and assaulted him with fists before taking a bottle and further beating him with it on the mouth.
The matter was reported to the police leading to Mlawuzi's arrest.
