In trying to 'baby dump' Mnangagwa, Grace will be crushed like a bug, she is

30 Jul 2017 at 20:39hrs | Views
Grace Mugabe tells VP Mnangagwa he is only an appointee serving at Mugabe's pleasure and therefore can be fired at the drop of a hat. She too is any appointee but one Mugabe cannot easily fire.

"If we (the political appointees) go wrong, you (President) can remove us from our positions anytime you like," said Grace.

"But inini chimwe chigaro chandiinacho cheudzimai hwenyu chinonetsa kubhisa. Tinenge takuenda kutoenda kumacourt. Mukada kundiramba tinenge takuenda kucourt ndakatsika madziro (But I, as someone who also occupies another position as your wife, it is difficult to remove me. If you dare try to divorce me, you are in for a bruising fight in the courts)."

Mai, oh mai! Grace is really going straight for the jugular vein. She wants Mnangagwa fired just as she wanted Mujuru fired.

In 2014 Grace Mugabe wanted the then VP Joice Mujuru "baby dumped" so badly she literally went berserk. Her accusations against Mujuru were both hysterical and outrageous. Mai Mujuru was accused of being lazy, incompetent and corruption. Who in Zanu PF is not corrupt? As for her being incompetent; was that not the reason why Robert Mugabe appointed her VP just as he has with VP Simon Muzenda and many others? Mugabe has surrounded himself with the most incompetent individuals he could get because they are the least likely to challenge him for the top job.

Compared to Muzenda, Mujuru and the rest of his "vakadzi vaMugabe" (Mugabe's subservient concubines) cabinet members, as Margaret Dongo called them, Mugabe has always appeared the genius per excellence!

Grace accused Mujuru of "factionalism" and plotting to assassinate Mugabe and become president. "Factionalism" was a nonsense charge. Zanu PF was going to hold an elective congress in December 2014 and Mai Mujuru had managed to get 8 out of 10 party provinces to back her bid for VP post. Emerson Mnangagwa, who was interested in the same post, got the backing of the remaining two provinces. How else was she supposed to canvass for support? And why should she be guilty of "factionalism" and yet her challenger who has done the same thing is not?

As for the assassination plot, the charge disappeared with no one ever questioned or arrested as soon as Mai Mujuru and her supporters were booted out of the party and government.

Grace Mugabe made no secret of the fact she was interested in succeeding her husband as president. If Mai Mujuru had been elected VP at the congress, she would have been in line to be president after Mugabe – that is why Mujuru had to be baby dumped.

It was not possible for Grace to get herself name in the hat for any of the two VP posts going. The next best thing she did was to make sure the two posts were filled by appointment and not by an elective process, hence the reason Grace is calling VP Mnangagwa an "appointee".

Since the ouster of Joice Mujuru, Grace Mugabe (with the covert support of her husband) has been trying to build up her own support base, G40 faction, with the view of challenging Mnangagwa as Mugabe's successor. The G40 faction has failed to get much traction in the party, other than women's and youth leagues (they make a lot of noise but wield little power and influence) and in other key national organs such as war veterans and the security services.

It is doubtful whether the G40 faction would ever add up to much even if Grace Mugabe was given more time to build it. The truth is with Mugabe's health failing and next year's elections coming up, etc. Grace had no choice but to make her bid to succeed her husband now or be overtaken by events. She has clearly decided to go for it and, as we can see, is going straight for the jugular vein!

Grace Mugabe has enjoyed her highflyer, palace and Gucci shoes lifestyle for decades and the thought of giving all that up has her fired up like a bombardier beetle. Whilst the beetle's hot caustic fumes are too much for even a starving frog; the insect would be unwise to count pulling off the same trick on the crocodile – those jaws will snap shut so fast, the bug will be crash before it can load, aim and fire!

"Baby dumping" a frog was one thing, a crocodile ….. I do not think so!

Grace Mugabe managed to get Joice Mujuru baby dumped is just four months. She has been trying to do the same with Emerson Mnangagwa for the last four years now and she is finding the task a lot tougher. She has is going for the jugular vein but may find herself being crashed like a bug.

For Zanu PF to remain in power the party will have no choice but to once again rig next year's election the vote. If Grace got her wish and Mugabe baby dumped Mnangagwa; rigging the election in which Tsvangirai or Mujuru are the opponent is ease, not so with Mnangagwa because he, unlike the other two, KNOWS how past elections were rigged! He and a number of his supporters master-minded and/or executed the vote rigging schemes.

To win next year's elections against Mnangagwa, Mugabe will have to walk a tight rope spanning 100m, a hundred storeys high, with no safety net. To really spice up the act, Mutsvangwa and his rogue war veterans and General Chiwenga and the other security sector chefs (they are all in the Mnangagwa camp, it is too late for them to switch allegiance and their goose is cooked if G40 faction prevail) will be peppering the tyrant with stones and other missiles. And it will be none other than Mnangagwa himself hacking away at the rope with as if his very life depends (which it will probably do) on him cutting the rope in less than 8 seconds (not even Usain Bolt ran 100m is that time)!

Even if Mugabe and his wife were able to outfox Mnangagwa and his supporters just the tyrant has outfoxed him in the past; Zanu PF will not be out of the woods yet.

SADC leaders have watched with alarm how Zanu PF has failed to revive the Zimbabwe economy after rigging the July 2013 elections. They know another rigged election will send the Zimbabwe economy into even deeper economic trouble threatening the political stability of not just Zimbabwe but the whole region. They will be watching the elections like a hawk and will not hesitate condemning the results, just as they did after the 2008 elections.

President Mugabe's reign was doomed to end in failure the end the tyrant decided to turn Zimbabwe into a de facto one-party cum one-man dictatorship. It is ironic that his fate was hastened by the insatiable greed for power, wealth and influence of his wife Grace! In her reckless pursuit of power she took on Emerson Mnangagwa – he is not nicknamed crocodile for his good looks alone and she is nothing but a bug!
