The People's Hour: Chamisa Draws Line in Sand Against Constitutional Hijack as he orders ZANU PF to
Withdraw CAB3 or Face the Wrath of History – Chamisa's Revolutionary Call"
The silence is broken. The two-year stillness ends. Former Citizens Coalition for Change leader Nelson Chamisa has stepped back into the arena with thunder in his voice and a challenge in his hand: withdraw the Constitution Amendment Bill No. 3, or let the people forge a new path through a transitional government.

Addressing a nation that he says is "worried about its direction and future", Chamisa cast CAB3 as more than law — he framed it as a dagger aimed at the heart of Zimbabwe's democracy. A law, he warned, that is "unilateral, unpopular and anti-people".

Writing on X, the man who claims victory was stolen in 2023 declared:
"Everywhere I go, I meet Zimbabweans whose eyes burn with the same question: where are we going? From the farms to the factories, from the villages to the diaspora, the cry is one — stop this march toward a dynasty. The wisest thing is to withdraw this #CAB3 from parliament and constitute a transitional government that will address all the challenges our country faces. It's doable."

A Bill to Crown a King?
Parliament is now locked in debate over the Constitution of Zimbabwe Amendment No. 3 Bill, 2026. If passed, it will do two things: extend President Emmerson Mnangagwa's term by two years to 2030, and stretch future presidential terms from five years to seven. Worse, Zanu PF wants to move the election of presidents from the ballot box to the chambers of parliament.

Mnangagwa is 83. The Constitution he swore to uphold says he must lay down the burden in 2028. But the ruling party, wielding a two-thirds majority and the obedience of Senate proxies, appears determined to rewrite the rules of power before the clock strikes.

"We Defeated Them"
Chamisa's return is not just about CAB3. It is rooted in the unresolved wound of 2023. "We defeated Zanu PF comprehensively and conclusively," he wrote, pointing to Justice Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi's own words justifying the cancellation of 2028 elections to "avoid toxicity". For Chamisa, that admission was confession: the people's will was murdered to save the palace from embarrassment.

He did not name who would lead a transitional government, nor sketch its legal architecture. But the message was clear: Zimbabwe cannot be patched with amendments. It must be reset with the people at the table.

"You Don't Negotiate the Living Room While the Wall Burns"
Not all agree with the timing. Political analyst Tadini Masaya warned that calls for transition now risk "confusing the resistance" while Zanu PF is "breaching the outer wall".

But Chamisa's tone says he is done whispering. His words carry the resolve of one who believes history is watching. CAB3 is not just a constitutional tweak, he insists - it is the blueprint for a dynasty. And dynasties, in the memory of nations, are never built without blood and never end without the people rising.

The Bill is expected to pass. The numbers are stacked. The proxies are ready. The only question left is whether the people will accept a crown they did not forge.

As Chamisa put it: "It's doable." The question Zimbabwe must now answer is: By whose hand?
