AGGRIEVED: Itai Dzamara (left) and fellow activists of the Occupy Africa Unity Square
The untimely disappearance of Itai Dzamara, a journalist and political activist, is a regrettable development. We pray for his soul wherever he is but should never to put all eggs into one basket. Can we really rule out a possibility of a stage managed matter meant to satisfy some hidden agendas by political tricksters in his political divide?
It's a living fact that Itai is a bona fide MDC activist, and he has been over shadowing some aspiring political aspirants, including some seasoned politicians in the party. Some politicians have been on record for uttering negative sentiments over the rate at which this young man was gaining fame, popularity and political mileage in the country.
By virtue of his fast growth up the political ladder, certainly he created numerous enemies that can be poised to do anything to harm this innocent soul. Let us be reminded that MDC is not clean either when it comes to playing political games. Trudy Stevenson was hammered and nearly assassinated by her kith and kins from the same party in Mabvuku. This was the period when the rest of the society noted that there was no real democracy in the party.
A few years ago an MDC activist set his own son, Christpower Maisiri, on fire which resulted in his callous death. This was done to prove a foolish point of proving that ZANU-PF supporters were after his life. This was sad as the whole plan was eventually exposed. So we cannot rule out the fact that Itai Dzamara is a similar victim. We need to authenticate all the under currents which surround his well-being amongst his colleagues in the party and the civic society.
It is refreshing to note that the state has expressly stated categorically its willingness to do everything within its power to investigate and establish the whereabouts of this citizen. The Vice President, Emmerson Mnangagwa, made it clear that the state is imperatively acting on case right now. The same applies to us all that we have a civic prerogative responsibility to gather and supply information which can lead to the whereabouts of Itai Dzamara.
On the other hand, the public is not fully aware of Itai's private life-style. In the recent past Zimbabwe witnessed the kidnapping case which was committed by Star FM DJ Munya (Munyaradzi Mulimo) who hired thugs to kidnap and murder a man that he believed was in an illicit love affair with his wife. The rumour that the kidnappers accused Dzamara of stock theft cannot be ruled out completely in the absence of adequate information on the contrary about his personal social life.
In the meantime, let us all pin hope on constructive effort from the rest of us all to provide leads on the matter at stake as opposed to megaphone approach which just mount and amass words of blame and finger pointing with no practical action to resolve this predicament.
Most of us here cannot clear the MDC of its hidden hand considering that there is a lot of infighting in the party. The party is highly fragmented with so many warring factions that are aiming to destroy each other. Let's hope Itai is not a sacrificial lamb in this aspect. We pray that he is still alive and will live to tell his story.
We are aware that MDC-T security department is managed by former Selous scouts and Rhodies who are experts in dirty games similar to Dzamara's predicament
