Massive corruption at Zvishavane town council

09 Dec 2024 at 18:55hrs | Views
Dear Editor,

Please publish this exposé which involves the Zvishavane town planner who is selling public roads to business people without full council approval. At least 3 public roads have been sold to business people without any benefit to the council as the town planner pockets the cash from this scandalous deal which also involves his accomplice working at the Registrar General office's in Bulawayo.

The roads sold include one from Mandava bus terminus going past Rusvo house, the road adjacent to Galijo and another road adjacent to Chimedza business premises. The roads have since been closed and decommissioned as the land has been sold to business people by the town planner. The town planner used the proceeds from his corrupt deals to buy and develop a residential stand in Izaya Park.

The Town planner is abusing his office and using his accu in Bulawayo to alter the town's master plan without council approval or any minutes to back up the alterations. Town councillors are not aware of these changes and the same applies to other stakeholders like neighbouring business people, road users and the residents who are neither consulted nor notified as per procedure.

Recently the town planner sold a section of road and land to a white man who has evicted a number of indigenous business people. This white man owns more than three quarters of land in Mandava light industrial sites. Its a question of the rich now robbing the poor and surely the government must protect the poor.

There is urgent need to investigate the actions of this corrupt town planner who is abusing his office, selling roads and pavements for his personal gain. The same town planner is the master mind behind the high staff turn over at the council so as to cover and protect his shoddy deals. For the record Zvishavane town council has had 4 CEOs within a very short period and the same goes for town engineer.

Stop corruption now
