Highlanders yesterday completed the signing of teenage goal-machine Thomas Chideu on a three-year contract ahead of the 2015 season.
The 18-year-old former Prince Edward School star spent three months in England in 2013 on an exchange programme and reportedly attracted interest from Barclays Premiership club Sunderland after banging 34 goals in 14 matches for Oswestry School.
Chideu, who hails from Highfield, Harare, was offered a place at the Shropshire school at the beginning of September in 2013. Oswestry has an exchange arrangement with Zimbabwe's Prince Edward, where Chideu was doing his 'O' Levels.
His attachment with Oswestry ended mid-December that year, but he was allowed to train with the Under-21 side of Championship side Leicester City until last week awaiting his return home.
Highlanders are rebuilding under new coach Bongani Mafu, who faces the challenging task of reviving the fortunes of a club which last won the Zimbabwean league title nine years ago and has played second fiddle to arch rivals Dynamos in the last four seasons.
Chideu, who is represented by player agent Gibson Mahachi, is hoping to take over the goal-scoring mantle at the Bulawayo giants from last season's joint top-scorer Charles Sibanda, who has left the club for city neighbours How Mine.
