EAST, West - home is best for former Bulawayo City midfielder Kelvin Madzongwe whose intended move to Harare City flopped.
Now he wishes to play for a big club like Highlanders. Madzongwe looked poised to sign for Harare City where he would have reunited with his former coach Philani "Beefy" Ncube but the move stalled with the player deciding to return to Bulawayo at the beginning of this month. The player is now a free agent and it means he can sign for any local club.
"I had already done medicals, signed registration forms but the contract stalled at Harare City. I am training with a Division Two team in New Magwegwe and I go to the gym to keep fit,'' said Madzongwe who hopes to get a team for next season.
The 27-year-old defensive midfielder joined Bulawayo City on a one-year contract last year which expired at the end of June. He is not really keen on going back to Bulawayo City.
"I am looking for a competitive team like Highlanders. I really need game time,'' he said.
Madzongwe is a holder of a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication from the University of Boston in the United States of America.
Before he left for the USA, he turned out for Njube Sundowns and Chicken Inn.
Highlanders coach Erol Akbay said even if he wanted to sign Madzongwe, he could not do so as the club had told him to finish the season with the players he already has.
