JOHANNESBURG - A number of roads around the FNB Stadium in Soweto will be closed due to the MTN8 semi-final between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates today (kick-off is at 15:00), Johannesburg metro police said yesterday.Nasrec Road, the Soweto Highway, and Rand Show Road would be closed today from 08:00 to 17:00, Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar confirmed.

Minnaar encouraged fans to arrive early.

People coming from Soweto were encouraged to make use of the "Top 6" taxi association service from Soweto to the stadium. The Gautrain bus shuttle service will operate from Park Station to the stadium, and the Metrorail train service would run from Pretoria and Vereeniging to the stadium.

Meanwhile, Kaizer Chiefs should brace themselves for a busy afternoon in the MTN8 semifinal first leg against Orlando Pirates as their archrivals will be out for revenge.

Pirates striker Lennox Bacela said he could not wait for today as the Buccaneers had a score to settle with Amakhosi. Bacela's confidence is not misplaced as he has recently been in fine form. He helped Pirates to an impressive 4-1 demolition of Egyptian giants Zamalek in the Caf Champions League group stage match last Saturday.

"This is one game that we will have to be at our best and play to win. Chiefs will be tough opponents again but we will have to go out of our way to get a good result," said Bacela in an interview with orlandopiratesfc.com.

Pirates play the first match as an away team and the second leg will be played at Orlando Stadium on 24 September. As they prepare for this clash, Bucs will still have fresh memories of their defeat against Chiefs in a pre-season friendly.

"We lost to them in the Carling Cup and that, of course, cannot be repeated in this match on Saturday. We go to this match with no pressure but as players we are determined to do well and fight for a great result," he said. The former Bloemfontein Celtic forward said preparations for this encounter had gone well and that the players were looking forward to the match.

"Our training sessions have gone well. We all want to play in this match so I can assure you that whoever gets to start the match for us, that person will play his best football. For some of us playing in the derby is a dream, so we all want to take full advantage of this great opportunity of playing in the derby," he said.
