New trade union formed

A NEW trade union Confederation of Zimbabwe Trade Unions has been formed to push for workers' rights across the country.
Union leader Peter Mpofu said the union seeks to reduce tension between business and labour in order to maximize production, productivity, bring sanity and relief to all working population of Zimbabwe.
He said it was registered on November 16 with the Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare.
Mpofu said its aim is to participate, guide and assist the state in policy making and formulation processes at all levels.
"We want to protect and advance full social, economic rights and developments to all workers in Zimbabwe or those in the Confederations affiliates and vulnerable groups such as female and child labour," he said.
CZTU said it is committed to advocate for decent wages and salaries to all workers in Zimbabwe.
"CZTU also aims to make sure that there is fruitful, productive and gainful engagement at the tripartite negotiating forum for a win-win situation between business and labour," he said.
Mpofu urged the need for commitment and cooperation to all workers and employers to collectively change the economic landscape and fortunes of Zimbabwe.
