Minister of Foreign Affairs Amon Murwira has officially received credentials from Dr. Daniel Gurara, the incoming International Monetary Fund (IMF) Resident Representative to Zimbabwe.
The development was announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs via its X (formerly Twitter) account.
According to the ministry, Murwira welcomed Dr. Gurara and commended the IMF for its continued technical assistance in key economic areas, including tax policy, revenue administration, debt management, and public finance.
"He emphasized that such cooperation strengthens Zimbabwe's macroeconomic and microeconomic fundamentals," the ministry said.
Murwira also reiterated Zimbabwe's commitment to clearing its arrears and normalizing relations with international creditors under the Structured Dialogue and Arrears Clearance Framework.
In his remarks, Dr. Gurara expressed gratitude for the warm reception and affirmed the IMF's commitment to supporting Zimbabwe's economic recovery and reform agenda.
"My role is to support Zimbabwe's economic priorities. It's a good time to be here, the economy is rebounding, inflation is easing, and reserves are accumulating. We look forward to this journey together," said Gurara.
The engagement marks another step in strengthening Zimbabwe's partnership with the IMF and advancing the country's vision for inclusive and sustainable growth.
