Transparency International Zimbabwe (TIZ), through its Strengthening Anti‑Corruption Frameworks for Responsive and Accountable Governance in Zimbabwe (SAFRAG) programme, on Thursday convened a follow‑up engagement meeting with prosecutors from the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the country’s anti‑corruption response.

The meeting brought together prosecutors from Harare, Marondera, Kadoma, Chinhoyi, Mt Darwin, Murehwa and Bindura.

According to TIZ, the engagement builds on a series of trainings conducted over the years aimed at enhancing prosecutors’ capacity to handle corruption‑related cases, improve case management systems and strengthen inter‑agency cooperation within the justice sector.

“The meeting forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the capacity and responsiveness of justice sector institutions in addressing corruption,” TIZ said in a statement.

TIZ said the engagement created a platform for prosecutors to assess progress made in their respective jurisdictions while sharing experiences, challenges and lessons learned in the prosecution of corruption cases.

“The engagement provided a platform for prosecutors to reflect on progress made, share experiences and lessons from their respective stations, and discuss practical strategies for improving the investigation, prosecution and management of corruption cases,” the organisation said.

Discussions also focused on strengthening collaboration among anti‑corruption institutions, identifying opportunities for resource and knowledge sharing, and institutionalising coordination mechanisms that support effective case handling. TIZ said this cooperation is essential to improving the overall performance of institutions responsible for combating corruption, including the NPAZ and other justice sector bodies.

The organisation added that the meeting served as an important monitoring and learning platform to assess the impact of previous interventions while identifying areas requiring further support.

“The meeting further serves as an important monitoring and learning platform, helping to assess the impact of previous interventions while identifying opportunities to sustain and strengthen anti‑corruption efforts within Zimbabwe’s justice sector,” TIZ said.

TIZ emphasised that continued collaboration, capacity strengthening and knowledge exchange among justice sector institutions remain key to promoting accountability, integrity and the rule of law in Zimbabwe.

“Through continued collaboration, capacity strengthening and knowledge exchange, justice sector institutions can play an even greater role in promoting accountability, integrity and the rule of law,” the organisation said.
