Private Lounge threatens Forty40

CLUB Forty 40, which has been home to strippers for the past year, has roped in Zimdancehall star Soul Jah Love and stripper Chocolate to try and counter the opening of strip joint – Private Lounge tomorrow.

The two will perform at Club Forty 40 coincidentally on the same night dancehall mix-masters Judgment Yard will be performing alongside a bevy of strippers at Private Lounge.

The mixed bag at both joints is too similar as dancehall acts will be headlining striptease shows on the same night.

DJ Mzoe, who doubles up as Club Forty 40 entertainment manager, said they wanted to up the ante in Bulawayo's entertainment industry hence a similar line up to that of Private Lounge.

"Competition is healthy and obviously the first days are going to be tricky considering the new player in town (Private Lounge). We'll just wait and see how people will accept it in the following months,," said DJ Mzoe.

He, however, said they would attend the Private Lounge opening to get notes on ways to transform their nightspot.

"This is a good opportunity for us to see how to spice up our striptease nights. I see this as an opportunity for the strippers to make more money as they can also perform at Club Forty periodically when they're free," said DJ Mzoe.

With the freezing temperatures at night, most revellers prefer indoor entertainment and Club Forty 40 was among those cashing in on those who wanted to watch strippers perform. However, the opening of Private Lounge will likely pose a headache for club owners who wanted to use strippers to lure crowds.

Last year, a striptease craze gripped Bulawayo with Metropolis Pub being the first to host strippers. Thereafter Club Forty 40 followed suit.
