JOHANNESBURG - The Highlanders 90th anniversary celebration event which was held under the theme: Bosso@90 was successfully held at Berea Park in Johannesburg on 8 October 2016.

Hundreds of people who thronged at the park enjoyed every bit of it. The event was sponsored by the Bosso South Africa chapter which has Bosso's legend in its ranks in the mould of Alexander "The Cool Ruler" Maseko. Maseko graced the event to show his undying love for his team. The chapter's committee member Nkosini Tshuma said that they were humbled by the turn out of the Bosso supporters. He said they are planning to hold road shows to recruit more people into the chapter. The soft spoken man said he was hoping that more Bosso supporters will join as their aim is to help the team where possible.

"We were so much impressed by the turn out of our brothers and sisters. It is our dream to be part of Bosso in many ways, not by only watching the team when its playing, but, by giving a helping hand financially", said Tshuma.

When asked how one can be a member of Bosso he had this to say, "The joining fee has been reduced to R100 from the one that was pegged previously. We want to accommodate more people.

Ibutho lenqama's representative could not be reached for comment as his phone went ringing unanswered. Ibutho lenqama were the organisers of the event which saw the presence of Political heavyweights like Dumiso Dabengwa . He said that he loves Bosso and wishes the team all the best in all its competitions.

Musicians of all genres were part of the celebrations as they took turns to entertain the crowd. Groups such as Amafika Amahle, sungura group Bulawayo Youth Brothers, maskandi group Ubhejane obomvu , to name but a few , were part of the groups that entertained the crowd.

The ever live poet-Victress Mathuthu recited a poem about Bosso. The energetic Mathuthu drove Bosso fans into frenzy when she said Bosso humbled a team in Harare and most people believed it was a fluke but Bosso repeated the same thing at Barbourfields stadium to silence the doubting Thomas. Accapella group Inkanyezi Zezulu got standing ovation from the crowd when they masterly took the stage.

Their modulated voices forced the crowd to dance and ululate with great joy. People were made to remember the old good days when they watched Bosso stunning its opponents. The song Wakhal'umantengwane drove people, especially Bosso supporters, crazy.

It is one of the songs Tshilamoya supporters love most because it sends a message that Bosso is a big team with supporters all over the country. Inkanyezi Zezulu were so live and did everything with calculated moves.
