Suspects in the theft of a Lobatse magistrate's cellphone have been granted bail.
The Voice reported that Kedifentse Thekiso (23) and Boniface Ngakane (24), were recently remanded in custody for the alleged theft of Magistrate Thekololo Letsholo's phone.
The theft case took an interesting turn recently when the main suspect, Thekiso, told the court that she did not steal Magistrate Letsholo's Sony Smartphone but simply confiscated it to compensate herself for P1 000.00 worth of sexual services offered.
She told the court that the phone fell during a steamy session of unprotected sex, but took it after the action and decided to keep it when the magistrate refused to pay.
Thekiso told the court that she later gave the phone to her boyfriend Ngakane to keep it temporarily while still demanding payment but her friend Boniface allegedly traded the phone for drugs.
The case is expected to continue before court soon.
Meanwhile Lobatse police station commander, Tebogo Madisa, said they have not yet found the stolen phone. "Investigations are still on, we are still trying to establish what could have happened to the missing phone," said Madisa.
