The Collin Nyabadza Children's Voice Charitable Trust (CNCVCT) continues to impact the lives of school children in rural Zimbabwe. On Thursday 3rd March, 2016 the fledgling organization donated books, clothing and tools at Tjewondo Primary & Secondary Schools.
The educational supplies were kindly donated to the organization by a UK based charity, Christian African Relief Trust (CART) who recently shipped a 40ft container loaded with educational supplies that also included classroom furniture.
Representing the CNCVCT were the organisation's Projects Advisor Mr. Ronald Mabuza Ncube who also happens to be a former student at the primary school, and Board Advisor Mr.E.N. Nyathi who is a former principal at the same school and is now retired. Speaking to the children after handing over the supplies Mr. Nyathi urged them to continue working hard for a better future. He also urged them to take very good care of the equipment which is often very expensive and difficult to get. He also urged the teachers to equip the children with some practical skills using the tools donated.
Mr. Ncube was however shocked at the not so pleasant conditions prevailing at the secondary school which was established with the help of Mr. Nyathi and Mr. Collin Nyabadza so as to save the children graduating from the primary school the burden of walking 25km every day to attend the nearest second school. For instance there is one classroom block whose roof needs urgent repairs after it was damaged by a heavy storm. He however informed the children and staff that his organization would do everything possible to help improve conditions at the school and others in the district as this was the only way better qualified teachers could be attracted and retained.
Some of the equipment will be handed over to schools in Bubi and Tsholotsho Districts where the organization works in too. All board members were assigned districts which they manage and supervise. They have therefore since collected their allocation of the supplies received from CART and are just waiting for the appropriate time to handover the equipment to their assigned districts.
The Collin Nyabadza Children's Voice Charitable Trust is also currently engaged in other projects which will see them impacting the school lives of more children. For instance, they are constructing a 1x2 classroom block at Seshawe Primary School in Bubi District, with the help of a UK based charity the Juniper Trust, to replace the sub-standard structure the children are using at the moment which could actually collapse anytime.
