Mpilo Hospital touched by an angel fundraising event.

If for circumstances beyond your control, you are unable to attend the Dinner and Dance Fund-Raising function by medical charity Vana veZimbabwe on Friday -5/12/2014, but are passionate about the healthcare in Zimbabwe, all is not lost. Touched by an Angel, a UK based charitable organisation, www.Mpilorevival.org.uk established by a group of concerned Bulawayo residents is fund-raising for the revival of Mpilo Central Hospital on the 6th December 2014 at Holiday Inn London Heathrow Ariel. You are all most welcome to be part of this life defining moment which will enable Mpilo Hospital to revert back to its glorious days.
The charity "Touched by an Angel" is a brainchild of Mrs Judy Olonga, she is married to the Bulawayo based Peadatricain Dr Olonga - father to ex-Zimbabwean international cricketer Henry Olonga.
She has assembled a group of like-minded people who established the charitable organistaion which will be registered with the Charity Commission in the very near future. They have named their project ‘Mpilo Revival' - Mpilo means life, their mission is to give life back to Mpilo Hospital, a referral hospital for the whole of Matebeleland, so that Mpilo can continue saving lives.
The funds are for purchasing life-saving medical equipment, consumables and medicines for the United Bulawayo Hospitals - Mpilo being one of them.
At the event, a medical equipment manufacturer, HCE - Healthcare Equipment - has kindly offered their assistance. In support of Touched by an Angel, a range of their equipment will be displayed for sale at a nominal price for those wishing to donate. The following equipment and tests will be on display glucometer, enteral feeding machine, suction machine, laryngoscope handle, laryngoscope blades, ECG machine, tympanic thermometer and many more.
Entertainment will be provided by Henry Olonga and DJ Soxx a well-known and well sought after DJ in the entertainment scene, he boasts of a wide spectrum of music. There will be a running raffle and numerous prizes on offer, the Christmas Hamper being the main prize of the day.
"Mpilo's current condition is characterised by lack of capacity, lack of medicines and lack of medical equipment which puts people's lives at risks, we intend to play our role" Mrs Olonga said.
"We invite everybody to come and be part of us on the 6th, in an attempt to raise funds which will help revive Mpilo hospital" pleaded Mrs Olonga.
