Mugabe learnt of Chanetsa's death through the internet

President Robert Mugabe got wind of the death of Peter Chanetsa through the internet after his wife Grace stumbled upon the news, Acting president Emmerson Mngangagwa has revealed.
Chanetsa has since been declared a national hero and would be buried tomorrow.
"I phoned the President telling him about the death and he told me that he had learnt about it through the First Lady who had read about it on the Internet," Mnangagwa told mourners.
Early this week, Mnangagwa said he was having difficulties in contacting Mugabe to inform him about the death.
Mugabe had left Singapore for China.
"We sent the details to the President and this morning (Thursday) while in Bulawayo, I managed to talk to him.
"He had left China for Singapore and he said tell the relatives that I am in agreement. So, Cde Chanetsa has been granted national hero status".
