AWARD-winning Inkululeko Yabatsha School of Arts (Iyasa) has embarked on a massive talent search across the globe.

In an interview with NewsDay Life & Style, Iyasa director Nkululeko Dube said they had received several applications from across the globe for the process that happens after four years.

"Enrolment is going on well and responses are positive. We have received applications from across the country and some even outside our borders. We still welcome more until the end of this month," he said.

"There is a clear sign that many young people require the skills to empower themselves through the creative sector. We enrol after every four years.

"Our last enrolment was in 2016, but due to lockdowns we decided to do it this year when we felt the world is slowly opening up."

Dube said Iyasa was a training institution and they were looking for students who wanted to turn professional and earn a living from the perfoming arts.

"We are not employing artistes because we do not have that capacity at the moment, we are just opening doors for training, opportunity and exploration to interested young people," he said.

Dube said they were planning to commence trainingnext month, guided by COVID-19 protocols, adding that he was looking forward to receiving more applications.

"The number of people we are going to train will be determined by the responses we get and the applications we receive," he said.
