TWO suspected robbers, who allegedly pounced on a miner at Mazowe Mine and robbed him of US$130 after assaulting him with a beer bottle, were arrested at a police roadblock as they tried to escape.
Mashonaland Central acting police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Naison dhliwayo confirmed the arrest of Vigilance Mukanganwi (31) and Patson Katsande (32) from Harare, who allegedly robbed denis Ndlovu (25).
"I can confirm a robbery case in Mazowe where Mukanganwi approached Ndlovu at his Amatola farm, Mazowe with an empty beer bottle and demanded beer, but Ndlovu told the suspect that he had no money," dhliwayo said.
"The furious Mukanganwi struck Ndlovu with a broken bottle and assaulted him with clenched fists all over the body before robbing him of his money and fleeing to their gate-away car where Katsande was waiting for him."
