Bosso captains upbeat

HIGHLANDERS captains Ariel Sibanda and Nqobizitha Masuku are confident of upsetting high-riding Triangle in their own backyard when the two sides clash in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League tie at Gibbo Stadium on Sunday
On their last trip to the Lowveld in 2019, Highlanders lost 2-1.
"I think so far so good. We appreciate the efforts that we have put in recently but we are not happy with the way we have been playing this far. Although we appreciate it, we still have to improve on our play. Against Triangle it is not going to be an easy game but as a big team we should stamp our authority
there.
"We will try our best and we are going there to win. If you look at the log-standings, we want to return the team where it belongs. It is going to be an interesting game," the Highlanders skipper
said.
After going four matches unbeaten, the Bulawayo giants have made a steady rise up the ladder, now sitting on position 10 after a mediocre start to the season.
Masuku, who has helped the team in their quest by scoring five goals in nine matches, says Highlanders have to show that they are a big team.
"Ours is work in progress but we don't have to get carried away by winning these two, three games and drawing away. If you are playing for Highlanders, you have got to be consistent to win those away games and make a statement because we are a very big team. We have to win our home and away games and then from there we can say we are perfect but it's never perfect, one has to work hard always especially when Highlanders are winning. Any team that plays us wants to upset us. We have to keep pushing," the Highlanders vice-captain said.
Masuku was on target at Gibbo in 2019 when Highlanders lost 2-1 to Triangle and the Bosso midfielder is promising more goals, with five already in his bag this season.
"Each season I usually score three or less goals, maybe I had lost that touch but I think I have found it. It's good for me but most importantly it's good for the club," he said.
Utility player Pritchard Mpelele has been ruled out for the next five months after he tore a thigh muscle against Caps United two weeks ago and has been replaced by young Ashford Faira, who was on loan to Division One side ZPC Hwange.
Also promoted before the close of the transfer window yesterday was goalkeeper Romeo Sibanda while another young goalkeeper Reward Muza, who was with the first team, has been loaned to struggling Bulawayo
City.
Winston Mhango has been shown the door and replaced by Darlington Munkuli, another player promoted from the Under-19s and was on loan to Talen Vision.
Striker Rodi Sibanda, who has not had much game time, has also been loaned out to Bulawayo City.
