Chiwenga mocks Chamisa's manifesto

VICE President Constantino Chiwenga yesterday scoffed at opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) leader, Mr Nelson Chamisa, for reproducing the Zanu-PF's Second Republic success stories in his party's election manifesto.

Addressing thousands of Zanu-PF party supporters who thronged Mkoba Stadium in Gweru for a Mkoba North and South constituencies rally, he mocked the CCC for failing to come up with a concrete blue-print to challenge Zanu-PF.

In the CCC manifesto, VP Chiwenga said Mr Chamisa talks of Zanu-PF's Pfumvudza programme, for instance, and attempts to give it a new name.

"In his manifesto, this young man is trying to ride on the success of the Second Republic's Pfumvudza programme and tries to give it another name called ‘Zadzamatura'. He is not even aware that the Second Republic has commissioned the Hwange Unit 7 and 8 and rushes to say he wants to do the same when elected into Government, does that make sense?" asked VP Chiwenga.

Instead of addressing the failure by the opposition, especially in urban councils, VP Chiwenga said Mr Chamisa went on to touch on areas that have already been dealt with by the revolutionary party.

"There is rot in councils, they have failed in terms of service delivery, garbage is all over in towns, sewer and water reticulation systems are in a bad state. Instead of addressing these he touched on issues already done by Zanu-PF," said VP Chiwenga.

He said for the past 23 years, the opposition had run down urban cities and it was now time the electorate voted them out. On one hand, the Second Republic has a clear programme for urban cities that will see them reclaim their former glory, he added.

Vice President Chiwenga also suggested that Mr Chamisa has intentions of giving Zimbabwe back to former detractors as evidenced by his utterances when addressing his party supporters.

"We heard him recently saying when he wins elections, he will call America and say I have finished the job. He is just reversing the gains of the liberation struggle because the President is saying a nation can only be built by its own people but here is an opposition leader who thinks some people will come and build Zimbabwe which is not theirs," he said.
