In a hard-fought Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match at Nyamhunga, Shadreck Nyahwa netted the decisive goal as Dynamos narrowly defeated ZPC Kariba 1-0.
Nyahwa's crucial strike occurred in the 61st minute, elevating Dynamos to second place and keeping their championship aspirations alive. He capitalized on a goalkeeping blunder by Hamilton Makainganwa, who let a loose ball slip through his grasp following a Brendon Mpofu corner kick, allowing Nyahwa to tuck it into an open net.
Nevertheless, Dynamos remain eight points behind the league leaders, Ngezi Platinum, albeit with a game in hand.
Dynamos' head coach, Genesis 'Kaka' Mangombe, acknowledged the challenge of playing away from home in harsh weather conditions and praised his team's resilience in securing the victory. He emphasized their shift in focus to the upcoming match in the Chibuku Super Cup and the determination to continue pursuing victories.
Coach Luke Masomere of ZPC Kariba commented on the balanced nature of the game, with both teams having their moments. He pointed out that a goalkeeping error ultimately determined the outcome, referring to it as a "schoolboy blunder" that gifted Dynamos the decisive goal.
The first half saw Dynamos' goalkeeper, Prince Tafiremutsa, making crucial saves, denying long-range shots from Tellmore Pio and Fanuel Shoko within the opening six minutes. He later thwarted a shot from Moses Demera that was heading for the top corner.
Dynamos also had their opportunities, including a near miss by Shadreck Nyahwa in the ninth minute and an effort by Keith Madera that went wide from close range two minutes later. However, their best chance in the first half came when Elton Chikona dispossessed Ian Nekati, rounded goalkeeper Hamilton Makangainganwa, but ultimately missed the target.
The second half saw Dynamos increase their offensive pressure after the introduction of Emmanuel Paga and Eli Ilunga.
