Mpopoma residents are up in arms with their House of Assembly representative, Bekithemba Nyathi, accusing him of exhibiting "uncouth behaviour and setting a bad example to other youths in the constituency."
Nyathi, who is an MDC-T Bulawayo provincial youth leader, is also accused of disrespect, and peddling divisions with the the party structures there.
"He has misled a lot of youths in he constituency and are engaging in unbecoming behaviour at the Parliament house in the suburb," Amos Ncube of Mpopoma told Radio Dialogue.
He said Nyathi "and his youths" have converted the constituency's Parliament house into a party house where illicit dealings are conducted.
"That house is now a brothel and a venue for binge drinking and Nyathi is the kingpin," said Ncube.
Another Mpopoma resident, Charlton Moyo said Nyathi is setting a very bad example to the youths that know him as a leader.
He said elders in Mpopoma had made frantic efforts to engage their MP in a bid settle these problems to no avail.
"We have tried to call him for meetings but he has never found time to come and meet with the elders, most of them are concerned with the way the Parliament house is being used by the MP and his youths friends," said Moyo.
Nyathi has also been accused of disrespect and was reportedly responsible for creating divisions in the party.
Constituents also alleged that the MP was sexually abusing female party members and complained over his failure to pay his agents during the last election.
The MP was recently quoted in the media allegedly threatening to "fix" district executives for working against him.
Contacted for comment Nyathi said there were people against him who are plotting his demise by peddling falsehoods.
"That Parliament house is run by an advisory board of 10 elders and they are the ones who take care of it. The people levelling these allegations have some hidden agendas against me," said Nyathi.
He said the Parliament house was serving its purpose and abuse was reported before he assumed office but during his tenure he has stopped it.
