THE MDC led by Welshman Ncube has reshuffled its top leadership following the resignation of some officials and defections to MDC-T since the party's poor performance in last year's elections.
Some of the senior party leaders who threw in the towel were Qhubani Moyo who was director of policy for research and co-ordination and Edward Mkhosi, the former Bulilima MP.
The MDC national standing committee met in Gweru between Friday and yesterday where the changes were made after a long silence.
Nhlanhla Dube, the MDC spokesperson said Sam Mlilo who was secretary of education, had taken over from Moyo and Henry Chimbiri became his deputy.
Dube's former deputy, Kurauone Chihwayi was moved to the standing committee as secretary for international relations and external structures, replacing Sondon Mugaradziko who resigned.
Sibongile Mgijima took over from Chihwayi as deputy secretary for media, information and publicity.
Kudakwashe Munengiwa becomes the secretary for training and political education, a position formerly held by Tariro Shumba who becomes a national executive member.
Mary Manyenje was picked up as secretary for education and her post of deputy secretary for recruitment was filled by Shorai Marongere.
Mkhosi's post - secretary for land and agriculture - is now held by Angula Gwabada.
Former Gwanda mayor Lionel De Necker was appointed secretary for local government while Ngqabutho Dube is now water and energy secretary, replacing Siyabonga Malandu.
Dennis Mwiro is the new secretary for science, technology and ICT while Peggy Khumalo replaces Mgijima as secretary for natural resources and tourism. Khumalo will be deputised by Hlengiwe Sibanda.
