UMZINGWANE House of Assembly Member Ms Nomalanga Mzilikazi Khumalo who has been fired from MDC yesterday said she is not losing sleep over the issue.

MDC leader Professor Welshman Ncube at the weekend announced the firing of Ms Khumalo who is accused of insubordination and for working with the rival faction, MDC-T.

Ms Khumalo's expulsion from the party means she will lose her parliamentary seat as well as the post of Deputy Speaker of Parliament.

In a telephone interview, the defiant Ms Khumalo said she was not worried about what Prof Ncube said of her.

"Let those who want to say anything say it and those who want to think anything about it do so," said Ms Khumalo.

"Whether it will cause damage to my political image let it remain so. We have talked about this thing time and again and I do not want to say anything further.

"I have no comment and I do not want to comment about that issue. I have resolved to keep quiet and anyone who wants to write anything about it should go ahead."

Ms Khumalo could not be drawn to comment further as she repeatedly insisted that she has resolved to keep quiet.

Prof Ncube came face to face with reality when Ms Khumalo boycotted the party's rally in her constituency on Saturday.

Instead Ms Khumalo was said to have convened a political meeting with 12 councillors who have defected from the party as well at a venue not far from where Prof Ncube was holding his rally.

Prof Ncube has accused Ms Khumalo of working with MDC-T. He has said by so doing Ms Khumalo had declared herself unfit to represent the party in any election.

Prof Ncube said the legal implications of her actions were going to be felt after the finalisation of the Joubert Mudzumwe and Professor Arthur Mutambara court case, which is still pending.

Although Ms Khumalo could not confirm nor deny it, party insiders have said trouble started when the legislator declared her allegiance to the Prof Mutambara faction.
