A 37-Year-Old Guruve woman approached Guruve court today seeking for protection order against her abusive husband whom she accuses of beating her up and denying her her conjugal rights.
Antonet Chiwara told Guruve magistrate Artwel Sanyatwe that her husband Antony Chifodya is now a polygamist and alleges he undresses her, beats her up, sells their property to feed his second wive and is now depriving her of her conjugal rights.
"Your worship this polygamist is very abusive so I am seeking a protection order against him so that he does not come to our matrimonial home, he should stay with his second wife.
"When ever he comes home he undresses me assaults me, insults me in front of our five children and takes our property to feed his second wife.
"If I tell you now he does not want to sleep with me, so please your worship this man should not come to our home - I want peace," she revealed.
In his defence Chifodya said his first wife is just jealousy as she once maliciously damaged the property of the second wife.
"I do not assault her as she alleges but the bottom line is she is just jealousy your worship.
"We stay together and all hell broke loose when we decided to build a house in the same yard with her no wonder why all these allegations," he said.
However, the magistrate Mr Sanyatwe granted the order in the favour of the woman as he ordered the husband not to abuse his wife but did not bar him from coming to his matrimonial home.
