One of the machete wielding gold panners in Silobela who allegedly murdered a colleague in a fight was arrested on Thursday.
Sources close to investigations allege Ashious Ndlovu is suspected to have had a hand in the death of Mlungisi Sibanda in March 2017 over illegal mining brawl at Parker village 2 in Silobela, Kwekwe.
"Ndlovu was arrested last night in connection with the death of Sibanda who was reportedly killed earlier this year by 15 gold planners who assaulted him with machetes.
"He has been elusive to the police for 6 month but finally we caught him in his slumber after he came to the village in the wee hours yesterday," said the source.
Meanwhile, the other 14 culprits are still at large and have apparently resorted to visiting their families at night and leaving early in the morning in order to evade arrest.
