'Zimbabwe on track to counter human trafficking'

As the government intensifies efforts in criminalising human trafficking, the provincial anti-trafficking taskforces have been receiving training in Harare to equip them with necessary skills that enable them to detect, prevent and combat trafficking.
31 participants from Mashonaland Central and Mashonaland East province received training courtesy of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, a move expected to increase awareness campaigns at provincial and district levels.
Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Officer for the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, Samantha Munodawafa said Zimbabwe is on track in countering trafficking in persons through capacity building.
Latest revelations are that more than 21 million people are victims of forced labour globally and the country successfully developed the first national plan of action for 2016 to 2018, an implementation tool of the Trafficking in Persons Act.
