Zanu-PF Manicaland is set to mark a major development milestone this week, with Mutasa District breaking ground on a new US$600,000 two-storey party office today, while the Presidential Community Development Fund (PCEF) of US$25,000 will be distributed to each of the three constituencies in the district.

The ground-breaking ceremony will be presided over by Zanu-PF national chairman and Defence Minister, Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri, highlighting a significant investment in party infrastructure aimed at improving operational efficiency and service delivery.

A follow-up event is planned for Chimanimani on Saturday, where Presidential Advisor on Investment, Dr Paul Tungwarara, will disburse empowerment funds to the district's two constituencies. Last week, eight other constituencies in Manicaland—Chipinge Central, Chipinge South, Mutema-Musikavanhu, Chipinge East, Buhera North, Buhera South, Buhera Central, and Makoni West—received US$25,000 each under the PCEF to support local empowerment initiatives.

Zanu-PF Manicaland chairman, Tawanda Mukodza, confirmed that materials for the Mutasa office—including over 100,000 bricks and cement—are already on site, with builders and engineers ready to start construction once leadership gives the green light. He projected that by June, significant progress will be visible.

Mukodza emphasized that the PCEF aims to support sitting legislators' empowerment programmes while reinforcing party unity. He added that Dr Tungwarara, recently recommended for co-option into the Central Committee, will attend the ground-breaking ceremony in Chimanimani as well as an early provincial Christmas party in Makoni, where 3D architectural designs for new party offices will also be unveiled.

Dr Tungwarara's recommendation for co-option followed a resolution by the Chipinge District Coordinating Committee (DCC), nominating him as the successor to the vacant main wing post left by Dorothy Mabika, who now serves as Women's League provincial chairlady. The nomination was met with enthusiastic approval from local party members, signaling strong grassroots support.

Mukodza explained that the Chipinge recommendation adhered to directives from the National Commissariat Department, which requires that any replacement originates from the same administrative district as the outgoing member. He said the provincial leadership submitted the recommendation to the national leadership for ratification.

Support for Dr Tungwarara's co-option was reaffirmed by Central Committee members from Chipinge and Mutare North, who emphasized that his local roots and dedication make him a deserving candidate. Members praised President Mnangagwa for fostering an environment where young leaders can assume influential roles within the party and government.

The combined initiatives—including new office construction and the PCEF disbursements—reflect Zanu-PF Manicaland's commitment to empowering local constituencies while strengthening party infrastructure ahead of future developmental and political activities.
