Speaking in an Interview with Bulawayo24 the newly unveiled cabinet minister of Informal Economy and SMEs Development who is also the Executive Director of Bulawayo Vendors and Traders Association Mr Michael Ndiweni said, "I am excited to be part of the Citizen s cabinet and to hold the portfolio. I want to focusing on trying to push for the recognition of the informal economy in Zimbabwe and for the government to create a clear policy for this sector because it is generating the biggest contribution to the GDP. There is about US$7 Billion that is circulating in the informal sector but if you compare that with the support of the government, there is nothing meaningful. I will critique current policies and offer alternative policies until the sector is recognised."
Ndiweni also challenged the Mnangagwa govenement to deal with the rot at the Reserve Bank.
"We are challenging the government to urgently address the rot that is happening at the Reserve Bank because the country cannot move forward and be taken serious by investors while there is this rot at the central bank. If it means firing Govenor Mangudya to regain investor confidence then let it be."
