Deputy Chief Secretary in the Office of the President and Cabinet George Charamba says soldiers will continue to patrol the streets and western locations as long as there is intelligence reports that there are planned protests looming.
Charamba was speaking during an interview with Penny Pengeti of Capitalk FM on Wednesday.
A called had phoned in asking Charamba if they knew the atrocities that the soldiers continue to do in the locations through beating, killing and raping citizens.
"Members of the Zimbabwe Defense Forces will continue to patrol the streets and maintain law and order." Said Charamba. " What the citizens must know is that the state do not see things in the eyes of an ordinary person. The State has a super eye. As long as the intelligence is still reaching government about the recurrence of the recent activities, the soldiers will continue to be on the streets."
Chamisa also warned citizens about disturbing law and order.
"If we stop disturbing law and order the guys will go back to the barracks. I can confirm that the soldiers are out there on an official instruction. And you must know that it is very costly to the state to keep them out there but for the sake of law and order they are out there.
"We have been observing many footages and reports of abuse by state forces. The police and the military then invited those with cases to report them to the authorities. The only case we have heard is the one in Chitungwiza. Jenny Williams of Women of Zimbabwe Arise has been trying to raise alarm about cases in Bulawayo but she has failed to provide proof to back her claims."
