Misheck Ncube declared national hero

Veteran freedom fighter Misheck Ntundu Velaphi Ncube has been declared a national hero.
Announcing Ncube's national hero status to his family and other mourners, Zanu-PF Secretary for Administration Obert Mpofu who described the late national hero as an undisputable cadre of the liberation struggle said President Emmerson Mnangagwa and the party saw it befitting to bestow him the honour.
Family spokesperson Retired Assistant Commissioner Claydon Sewulah said the Ncube family is appreciative of the gesture which they know is a result of the hard work the late national hero did for his country.
Ncube, 82, passed away on the 28th of April 2019 at United Bulawayo Hospitals due to hypertension.
He is survived by wife Margaret Khumalo and five children.
The late Ncube was a member of the Zanu-PF National Consultative Assembly.
He joined the liberation struggle in 1962 and was one of the first ZAPU guerillas who fought in the famous battle of Hwange.
He went through Zambia and then proceeded to Egypt for further military training.
Mourners are gathered at 70590, Lobengula west in Bulawayo.
