Tension over Nketa boreholes

TENSION is rising in Nketa 8 after a decision was made to lock the local community boreholes for most of the day resulting in residents struggling to access water.
A committee responsible for managing community borehole in Nketa, recently touched off a storm after blocking residents of Mbundane, who fall under Umguza Rural District Council, from accessing water in the area.
"We really need help. The issue of the borehole has become a crisis in the community. As I speak, they have closed the borehole and are currently watering their gardens. They are saying people can come and fetch water from 3pm after they have finished," said a resident.
The resident said the issue of locking the borehole had gone out of hand.
Nketa 6 and Nketa 8 councillor Arnold Batsirai promised to engage the Zimbabwe Republic Police to arrest the committee members.
