Farm Workers were taken by 2 ZRP trucks at a farm in Ward 34 in Mazowe after a salary dispute with the farm owner. The Tevitdale farmworkers were bundled into police trucks after a wage dispute with the farmer who wants the people to accept a paltry 8usd salary, which is below the minimum wage.
Councillor Chinotimba the Ward councillor said the workers were arrested for refusing to accept $8 USD wages from a farm owner in the area.
The Councillor added that other farmers were paying 50usd wages. Councillor Chinotimba made a plea for help on behalf of the workers as he said that the farm workers were taken by the police without just cause, nor eviction notices. He said children have been left unattended as their parents have been taken by the police.
Councillor Chinotimba said as a representative of the people he will do his best to ensure that the matter is resolved amicably. He also urged the authorities to look into the plight of farm workers and those who are landless in Mazowe.
