ZANU PF Central committee member John Nhambura is alleged to have threatened Mvurwi police over arrest of three Mvurwi town council officials who are facing fraud charges.

The three are Sheri Nyakudya Town Secretary, Letwin Watambwa housing and community services officer together with Simbarashe Kambare housing clerk.

When the three were arrested Nhamburo is said to have demanded their release saying the party image will be damaged as Mvurwi council is run by MDC.

Nhamburo reportedly owns several stands in Mazowe which he acquired on party ticket  hence he is said to be protecting his dubiously acquired stands.

Junior police officers told Bulawayo24 that on Friday a high powered party delegation arrived at Mvurwi police sent by Nhamburo.

"Nhamburo first called our bosses saying he wanted the release of council officials chief among them Sheri Nyakudya as her arrest will put the image of party in disrepute, said the junior officers.

"Hours latter the delegation arrived on the station fuming and demanding the release of the trio but fortunately our bosses stood their ground and dragged the trio to court."

The trio is appearing today at Guruve magistrates courts for bail ruling.

Mazowe  District Coordinating Committee DCC leadership confirmed receiving the report but distanced the party from obstruction of justice by Nhamburo.

"We received the report but we have since warned Nhamburo to desist from obstructing justice and drag the name of the party in his shenanigans," DCC officials said.

Meanwhile, Mvurwi residents are elated by the arrest as most of them were swindled their money by the trio and are hoping that justice will take its course.
