Private medical practitioners under the Medical and Dental Private Practitioners of Zimbabwe association (MDPPZa) have started mobilising resources to assist doctors whose residence quarters were burned down at Mpilo Central Hospital last Wednesday.
About 39 doctors were affected after fire gutted the residence quarters, destroying all their belongings including household property, academic certificates, food and clothing.
MDPPZA president Johannes Marisa said they were mobilising resources to assist their counterparts.
"We are in the midst of mobilising for our fellow doctors who faced an unbelievable catastrophe," Marisa said.
"We call upon the corporate world to chip in as well. these doctors have lost everything from food, clothing and other important items."
MDPPZA is an inclusive body of medical practitioners in private practice, including nurses, medical doctors, dental therapists, dentists and laboratory scientists, among others.
