ZANU PF Mashonaland Central Provincial Coordinating Committee (PCC) yesterday grilled Minister of Home Affairs Kazembe Kazembe who is also the party's chairperson over mushrooming of road blocks which are reportedly milking poor motorists.
The provincial leaders said police officers were fleecing motorists in the province by demanding bribes which were allegedly benefiting the whole system including Kazembe.
A source familiar with the incident told Bulawayo24.com the provincial leadership was not happy with Kazembe who is allegedly raising money for his provincial campaigns through road blocks.
"Provincial leadership was not happy with Kazembe who is failing to control police roadblocks in his province, the police are milking motorists by taking bribes which are then shared among the whole system but the main agenda is to raise funds for his campaigns," the source said.
Politburo member Kenneth Musanhi also rebuked Kazembe for coopting his allies and one of his rival Sydney Chidamba in the provincial executive recently.Musanhi said Kazembe was offside as he rushed to position his people ahead of the provincial elections without full consultations from the party leadership.
Much to his embarrassment Kazembe had offered a car to one of his coopted ally Kararira whom he had coopted as political commissar.
The car was taken back much to the delight of his rival who are mocking the coopted on party social media platforms.
Tension is now high in ZANU PF camp as aspiring candidates for the chairmanship like Sam Parirenyatwa, Lazarus Dokota and James Makamba are now positioning themselves for the provincial top post.
