The Negomo chieftainship has sparked a lot of pandemonium after the incumbent acting chief Luscious Chitsinde is allegedly refusing to step down despite acting for over a decade, Bulawayo24.com has leant.
Today the Negomo clan sat down and decided to appoint Paradzai Kutyauripo as the substantive chief at a heated meeting that included part of the government officials and security.
A source familiar to the incident told this publication that Chitsinde was refusing to surrender power and he had hired thugs to disrupt the meeting there by paying them $30 each for the alleged disorderly conduct.
"The meeting was so tense because Chitsinde is refusing to surrender power hence he hired thugs to disrupt the meeting which he paid US$30 each but the plan was exposed in Chiweshe's various social media groups and the thugs feared prosecution despite them milling around the premise with drums," said the source.
Chitsinde could not be reached for comment as his mobile number was unavailable.
Mashonaland Central Provincial Development Coordinator (PDC) Timothy Tigere confirmed the chaos and said the ministry is waiting for the family to come up with a substantive chief.
"we are waiting for the family to come up with a substantive chief whom they will give to the Chief's council and the chief council will then inform us of the latest development ," Tigere explained.
