Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) has said despite spirited efforts by the ruling Zanu PF to ban its rally in Binga through the police, it has retained Binga North seat.
President Emmerson Mnangagwa was in Binga before the election where he dished out bicycles to the villagers with hope to wrestle the seat from the opposition.
He was campaigning for Zanu PF candidate Kudakwashe Musanka who lost to CCC candidate Prince Dubeko Sibanda.
However, despite the loss, Zanu PF gained some ground and increased the votes.
Binga political analyst Potter Gwinji said the ruling party gained ground after their massive campaign.
"There was a massive campaign by the ruling party in the areas of Manjolo and Siabuwa. We saw them coming with a lot of food stuff," he said.
"Some have been saying these people were brought from other Provinces but l believe there were from this Province. However the opposition was blocked from conducting rallies in Binga."
Sibanda said Zanu PF tried all it can to frustrate its voters but all that failed.
