Two paratroopers crash-landed at the Independence Day Celebrations at Barbourfields Stadium in Bulawayo Monday while conducting parachute displays as part of the entertainment at the celebrations.
One of the paratroopers had to be taken off the stadium on a stretcher by paramedics, indicating that he suffered an injury.
Despite this mishap, the other paratroopers managed to land well much to the delight of the crowd.
This incident comes barely days after another paratrooper was reportedly rushed to the hospital last Thursday after a landing mishap at the same stadium during their preparatory drills ahead of the Independence Day celebrations.
After today's accidents, one of the directors of ceremonies attributed the bad landing to the weather, as it was windy.
As per the norm during the Independence Celebrations, members of the security services including the police and school children perform their drills before the crowd who gathers to partake in the national celebrations.
This year the 42nd Independence Day celebrations were held in the country's second-largest city for the first time since 1980.
The national event was graced by President Mnangagwa, government officials, judiciary, legislature, service chiefs, traditional leadership, politicians and ordinary people was held under the theme: "Zim@42 – Leaving No One and No Place behind".
