A bogus medical doctor who masqueraded as a civil servant in Glendale was arrested and dragged to Concession magistrate court yesterday.
Rishass Mushayakarere (42) appeared before magistrate Charity Maunga facing a fraud charge.
He pleaded not guilty and was remanded in custody to April 28 for trial.
The state led by Munyaradzi Nengomasha alleges sometime in August last year the complainant masqueraded as a government medical doctor to the complainant and he would import a car for him through Tanzania port on civil servant free duty.
Artwel Kambanda(42) who wanted to buy a family car fell in the misrepresentation and on August 16 the bogus doctor demanded US$2150 which he said was enough to purchase a Toyota Wish.
Kambanda told the suspect to go and collect the money at their house and the money was surrendered to him by the complainant's mother.
A month later the suspect purported to be in Tanzania and demanded another US$1500 which he said would buy a better vehicle than the expected Toyota Wish.
He sent pics of a Toyota Hiace and the complainant agreed but he only raised US$900 which was collected by a Mount Darwin lady identified as Cathrine.
Weeks later he demanded Us$250 money for fuel which was sent via Mukuru.
The car was never delivered and for seven months the suspect has been evading the complainant.
