THOUSANDS of migrants including refugees and asylum seekers have found relief in the Restoring Family Links programme that is being implemented by the Zimbabwe Red Cross Society (ZRCS).
Restoring Family Links free services are offered in Plumtree and Beitbridge, Matabeleland South province, at Tongogara Refugee Camp in Manicaland province and Zaka in Masvingo province.
The services are also found in the country's biggest cities Bulawayo and Harare.
ZRCS is working in close coordination with Government and Non-Government organisations which include the police, Doctors without Borders (MSF), the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), World Vision (WV) and Jesuit Refugee Services (JRS).
Vulnerable people, including migrants, can make a free threemigrantsm-minute national or international phone call to relatives.
Thirty-minutes of free Wi-Fi is also offered for people to either contact or search for their relatives on social media.
Beneficiaries can also charge their own phones for free at specific locations with phone charging facilities.
One of the beneficiaries of the Restoring Family Links' Red Safe kiosk in Bulawayo Mr Mgcini Ncube, a cross border driver, said he had been helped by the facility and he has also referred many who have since been helped.
"We are seeing many people being helped at this Red Cross facility since its inception.
Many people are being assisted in a number of ways and there are cases where relatives are being linked after many years of separation," said Mr Ncube.
