Gift Muzadzi, a revered figure in the world of Dynamos, made an appearance in court on Monday, facing accusations of planting cannabis in his garden.
The former Zimbabwean international goalkeeper did not enter a plea during a brief court session presided over by Harare magistrate Yeukai Dzuda, who granted him bail in the amount of Z$50,000.
Muzadzi has been charged under the Dangerous Drugs Act. This legal action was initiated after the police acted on a tip-off and visited Muzadzi's residence at Good Hope on May 29 of this year. During their visit, they discovered seven cannabis plants growing in his garden. The height of these plants ranged from 0.86 meters to 1.8 meters.
According to the prosecution, Muzadzi's wife, Mendy Mhene, when questioned by the police, stated that the plants belonged to Muzadzi. Subsequently, Muzadzi was interviewed and allegedly confessed to the same.
If found guilty, Muzadzi could face a potential prison sentence of up to two years, in accordance with sentencing guidelines for similar cases.
