The Heart Stadium, located within the Yadah Hotel premises in Waterfalls, is nearing completion, with the official commissioning by Castle Lager Premiership team Yadah FC set to take place in just one week.
This 5000-seater stadium has been under construction for the past two months and is on track to become the quickest stadium ever built in the country. Ngezi Platinum's Baobab Stadium held the previous record, taking only six months to be prepared back in 2016.
With most crucial elements already in place, such as a lush suspended pitch, covered grandstands fitted with bucket seats, and CAF standard change-rooms, the Heart Stadium is poised to set new benchmarks.
Notably, experts and key figures, including the Minister of Sport, Recreation, Arts, and Culture, Kirsty Coventry, have visited the venue and provided positive feedback. In a recent interview, Prophet Walter Magaya, the visionary behind the project, expressed satisfaction with the stadium's rapid progress.
Construction began just eight weeks ago, and the team is diligently working to ensure all the necessary details are in place. The target is to commission the stadium on November 5th, which is just around the corner.
Magaya thanked all stakeholders who contributed to the stadium's construction and emphasized his love for football, stating that the project is not for personal gain but for the benefit of the country. He also expressed that the stadium's purpose goes beyond hosting Yadah matches and is intended to benefit football in the country, addressing all technical requirements as per CAF standards.
Even if his team, Yadah, were to be relegated from the top-flight league, Magaya stated that it wouldn't deter his enthusiasm, as the stadium's construction serves a broader national purpose. The goal is to see not only Yadah but also the national teams, such as the Warriors, compete at the Heart Stadium.
While the stadium will initially hold 5000 spectators, there are plans to expand it to a 20,000-seater venue in the future.
