Two murder suspects from Tsholotsho have been apprehended after evading the police for a month. Mqondisi Moyo (32) and Livious Ncube (44), both from Gotshane line, surrendered to the authorities on Friday. They are accused of killing Jerald Moyo following an indecent remark he made about their sister Lorraine Moyo's behind.
Jerald had commented that Lorraine had an "abnormal behind," prompting her to inform her cousins. In response, the duo assaulted Jerald with their fists and a log, leading to injuries from which he later died.
Matabeleland North provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Glory Banda, confirmed the arrest and stated that the suspects will face murder charges in court. The incident occurred on May 8, when the deceased encountered Lorraine on his way home from Gotshane Business Centre and made the offensive comment. Lorraine reported the insult to her brother-in-law and then to her cousins, who retaliated by attacking Jerald at his homestead.
Jerald sustained bruises but did not seek medical attention and died the next day. The suspects fled but later turned themselves in with their legal representatives. Inspector Banda emphasized the importance of community cooperation in combating crime and assured that perpetrators of such crimes will be held accountable.
