ZANU-PF's Bulawayo province has been urged to leverage the current party restructuring efforts for rejuvenation and to display unity in preparation for the Annual National People's Conference in October. This directive was given by Zanu-PF National Political Commissar, Munyaradzi Machacha, at a graduation ceremony for nearly 400 youths in Bulawayo's Luveve-Emakhandeni Constituency. The youths had completed a vocational skills training program sponsored by local businessman and Zanu-PF member Brian Samuriwo.
Machacha emphasized the importance of active participation in the restructuring process to strengthen the party ahead of the national conference. He highlighted the need for simultaneous mobilization, recruitment, and cell building to establish authentic structures within the party. Hosting the conference is seen as an opportunity to showcase a revitalized Zanu-PF in Bulawayo.
Commending Samuriwo for his community empowerment initiatives, Machacha encouraged replication of this model nationwide. He praised the inclusive development approach in Bulawayo, noting the presence of a Citizens Coalition for Change councillor at the event as a positive example of multi-party cooperation.
Machacha also outlined the party's achievements in economic empowerment and development since independence, such as the indigenization of the economy, increased participation in agriculture and mining by local citizens, and significant investments in education. He noted the establishment of state universities in every province and the launch of youth training and service programs.
Highlighting President Mnangagwa's "Zimbabwe is open for business" policy, Machacha discussed major investments like the US$1.5 billion Dinson Iron and Steel Company plant and the Muzarabani oil and gas reserves, which are expected to drive economic growth and industry creation.
The event was attended by Bulawayo Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Judith Ncube, Zanu-PF officials, and local residents, marking a significant occasion for the community.
