ZESA Holdings has issued a public update on the ongoing power supply challenges affecting Zimbabwe, as residents across the country continue to face prolonged power cuts and severe load shedding.

In a statement released this morning, the power utility confirmed that the national grid is currently experiencing reduced electricity generation capacity due to a technical fault at Hwange Power Station. In addition to the fault at Hwange, low water levels at Kariba Power Station have further exacerbated the situation, resulting in a substantial shortfall in electricity generation capacity.

"Zesa Holdings would like to advise its valued stakeholders that the national power grid is experiencing reduced electricity generation capacity due to a technical fault at Hwange Power Station. Low water levels at Kariba Power Station have further compounded this, resulting in low generation capacity," the statement said.

The power utility assured customers that technical teams are actively working to resolve the issues at Hwange Power Station and to restore full capacity as soon as possible, with a focus on minimizing the impact on customers.

Industry experts have raised concerns that prolonged electricity disruptions could have serious economic consequences, particularly for businesses that rely on a stable power supply for their operations. The disruptions could also affect households, particularly those using electricity for heating, cooking, and other essential needs.

ZESA Holdings has urged the public to remain patient and informed, reassuring customers that it is committed to resolving the technical issues and working to improve the country's power infrastructure. The company also encouraged people to "monitor our communication channels for further updates on the power supply situation," as efforts continue to address the crisis.

As Zimbabweans cope with ongoing power shortages, many are looking for urgent solutions to stabilize the national grid and prevent further economic and social disruptions.
