Tensions within the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) have reached a new high following the dismissal of Lynette Karenyi-Kore as the leader of the opposition in the National Assembly. The decision, made by CCC interim secretary-general Sengezo Tshabangu, has sparked fresh controversy, deepening divisions within the party's Welshman Ncube-led faction.

Karenyi-Kore, the Chikanga legislator, was replaced by Maureen Kademaunga, the Sunningdale representative, as the new leader of the opposition in Parliament. The move is seen as a significant shift in the power dynamics within the party, with Karenyi-Kore's dismissal adding fuel to the ongoing infighting among party members.

Earlier this year, Karenyi-Kore was publicly announced as the president of the CCC on an alternating basis with Ncube. However, despite the announcement, she has yet to formally assume the role, leading to speculation about internal disagreements and power struggles within the party. The firing of Karenyi-Kore from the parliamentary leadership role raises questions about her future in the party and the impact of these internal divisions on the CCC's unity.

The CCC, which has struggled with internal unity, now faces the challenge of addressing the fallout from the latest leadership shakeup. The escalating infighting has raised concerns about the party's ability to present a united front against the ruling Zanu PF party in the upcoming polls.

As tensions within the CCC intensify, all eyes will be on whether the party can resolve its internal disputes or if these divisions will continue to undermine its ability to challenge Zanu PF's dominance.
